It survived the high fire!
I was a little apprehensive at first because my professor warned me that high firing it may cause it to crack, but it didn't and now I'm happy! I put some blue string lights inside as well as assorted seashells and sparkly things in the bottom.
I certainly got that antiqued look though, right? I guess I was hoping it would turn out a bit more white with accents of the yellow salt effect, but the glaze I used can be pretty temperamental and I've had it do worse to stuff. I got lucky, really.
Also, those lines around her stomach are not rib lines because that wouldn't make science. They are in fact brush strokes from when I was applying the glaze. I don't know what made it do that right there, but it kind of bugs me.
In case you were wondering, it is in fact life size. the chest measures 32 in width and it is 21 inches long. If you want to see it in progress, check out this post I made awhile back: http://wehatenikeshorts.blogspot.com/2010/06/fjowiefigna.html. I more explain my process in that post, I think.
OH HEY ALSO if you are in the near area of TCC NW campus, go to the sky light gallery and check it out! I don't actually know when my professor will be displaying it, but I do know that it won't be until at least Monday when I bring it back to him. Maybe Tuesday so I can seal the cord in to the back. We'll see if I care about that on Monday.
Meanwhile, super early packing for NY! Not in the literal sense of everything is already in the bag (ok well it is right now but I'm doing a dry run) I'm just making sure everything is ready! I mean really i only have like a week left before I go.
I am. So. Excited.
It's my third plane ride, can you tell?
I hope I get a window seat I hope I get a window seat
